The department of zoology consists of two divisions <\/strong>\u2013 zoology of invertebrates and vertebrates. Department of Zoology was reorganized after accession of the Department of Invertebrates of the Educational Scientific Center and the Department of Zoology of Vertebrates in 2005. From the established time to 2010, Prof. I.K. Kadyrov headed the department.
\nSince then, the department has been named Zoology and Ichthyology. From 2010 to 2015, the department was headed by Dr. G.A.Abdurakhmanova. Since September 2015 until M.SH. Rakhimov<\/strong> head the department. In 1920, by the initiative of A.L. Brodsky department has been established. Since then to 1941, the department was headed by A.L.Brodsky. A.L. Brodsky<\/strong> took part in the research of the fauna of Syrdarya and Aral Sea, and Southern Tien Shan while published many monographs including. During 1941-1986, the department was headed by Dr., Prof. A.T.Tulyaganov. He, a scientist who founded the school of Phytohelminthology in Uzbekistan was published more than 100 scientific papers and more than 15 monographs.
\nThe department was headed by Dr. Prof. Z.N.Norboev <\/strong>from 1986 to1997. Scientist has published two textbooks, more than 10 teaching aids. During 1998-2005, the department was managed by Ph.D. Assoc. Prof. B.A. Muminov. The Department of Zoology of Vertebrates was established by Prof. D.N. Kashkarov<\/strong> in 1920. Between 1935 and 1981, the Department of Zoology of Vertebrates was headed by zoologist-ecologist T.Z. Zahidov.
\nThe department has signed bilateral agreements with the Institute of Genofund of the Flora and Fauna of the Academy of Sciences of Uzbekistan, Research Center of the Ministry of Agriculture and Water Resources of the Republic of Uzbekistan, research stations, farms, poultry and fish breeding centers, as well as the Society for the Protection of Birds of Uzbekistan and other organizations.
\nDepartment has Bachelor Program of \u201cBiology-5140100\u201d and Master Programs of \u201cBiology (Zoology)-5A140101\u201d and \u201cIchthyology and Hydrobiology-5A140103\u201d.
\nThere are Museum of Zoology, the Ornithological collection and student\u2019s scientific club \u201cFazianus\u201d at the department.
\nSince activity of the department more than 500 scientific works, textbooks, teaching aids and manuals have been published including the textbook of “Zoology of Invertebrates” which published by O.M. Mavlanov, S.Kh. Khurramov, H.S. Eshova in 2006 that awarded the State Prize of the best Textbook.
\nThe department is actively working on the improvement of curricula and syllabuses of classical and modern disciplines which required by science and practice in the world particularly in Uzbekistan.<\/p>\n
