The Day of the French Language and Francophonie at the National University of Uzbekistan in the Faculty of Foreign Philology at the Department of French Philology.
\nEvery year on March 20, the International Day of the French Language and Francophonie is celebrated.
\nThe Day of the French Language was established by the UN in 2010 “to celebrate multilingualism and cultural diversity, as well as to promote the equal use of all six official languages throughout the Organization.”
\nThe date of March 20 was chosen in connection with the celebration of the 40th anniversary of the International Organization of Francophonie, founded in 1970.
\nThe International Day of Francophonie is dedicated to 220 million French speakers, of whom 75 million consider French their native language.
\nStudents from the Department of French Philology participated in competitions such as “Video Clip for French Language Learners in Uzbekistan,” “My Eiffel Tower,” and “Song Contest” and “Congratulations in the form of a poem.”
\nThis event was attended by the director of the French Alliance in Tashkent, Dilshod Akhmedov, the former consul of Belgium in Uzbekistan, Jean-Claude Bojan, the teacher from the French Alliance, Elenor, and the candidate from the University of Mons, Belgium, Timothy Waties.<\/p>\n
