Department of Economic and Social Geography


Brief information about the Department

Formation and development of economic and social geography in Uzbekistan was associated with the Department of "Economic and social geography" of the faculty of Geography and natural resources of the National University of Uzbekistan. Originally this Department was founded in 1940 under the name "Economic geography", United in Central Asia. Later it was called "Economic and social geography" (1978). Since 1998, this Department continued its activities under the name "Social geography and regional economy". Later its name was renamed several times, but today it is called "Economic and social geography".

The first head of the Department was candidate of geographical Sciences, associate Professor V. G. Kuznetsov. Then D. n Professor M. G. Cadek (1941-1945), D. SC., Professor V. M. Chetirkin (1944-1948 yy.), Ph. D., associate Professor R. S. Lobach (1948-1954), g. f.N., associate Professor Tsapenko (1954-1959 yy.) in charge). In the period from 1960 to 1969, this task was performed by associate Professor N. G. Smirnov. Among the local scientists for the first time this Department was headed by Professor Z. M. Akramov he was head of the Department 1969 - 1984, from 1984 to 2010 the Department was leaded by Prof. A. S. Soliev. Today the Department is headed by D. SC., Professor Z. N. Tojieva.

In improving the scientific and pedagogical potential of the Department in the development of educational works was great ores of scientists G. N. Cherdantsev, A. N. Brooms, O. B. Ata-Mirzaev, A. A. Kayumov, T. I. Raimov Chodiev R. A., T. E. Egamberdiev, T. T. Todinov, S. S. Saidkarimov, S. B., Voronin, M. R. Buriev, A. M. Sodikov.

If you pay attention to the history of the Department, highlighted the most important and relevant areas of economic and social geography: economic zoning, industry, agriculture, population geography, urban development and urbanization problems, and you can see research on various aspects of social geography. In 1998-1999, for the first time among the CIS countries, the idea developed and advanced by Professor A. S. Soliev regional Economics, theoretical and practical issues related to the subject, were studied with great interest.

In recent years, based on world-class standards, traditional scientific directions have appeared in Uzbekistan. For example, the provision of medical, educational and other services to the population, political geography and geopolitics, social geography, tourism and recreation, geography of medicine (nosogeography), geography of crime. In all new directions of the National economic geography emerged at the Department of economic and social geography NUUz, was the great work of leading scientists Zievuddin the muhitdinovich Akramov and Abdusami Solievich Soliev became leaders in the formation and effective development of the national economic goegraphy.

The history of economic geography is primarily related to economic zoning. At the national scale and the Department of economic and social geography, NUUz zoning issues primarily include physical geography and then includes the needs of agriculture. Based on these on the basis of scientific research conducted in the scientific school of economic geography is the purpose of determining the main economic areas. In this regard, well-known scientists V. M. Chetyrkin Z. M. Akramov, A.S. Soliev, O.B. Ota-Mirzaev and others attracted the attention of the scientific community.

The scientific school of economic and social geography has two main directions in the Republic. One such direction is agrigeorgia (geography of agriculture), and the second being the geography of the population. In this direction, mainly studied the territorial aspects of urban development and the problems of urbanization. The aforementioned important research areas are columns of the modern geography of the Country, two famous scientists Professor Akramov Ziyavutdin the muhitdinovich and Professor of solieva Abdusami of President was directly linked to their joint scientific, creative and pedagogical work. That‘s why it‘s an informal academic Association can directly call the "Scientific school Akramova-Solieva".

For a short period of time the scientific school of economic geography of Uzbekistan has received considerable attention not only in the country but also in neighboring and other foreign countries. In this captivity of the candidates and doctors of this scientific school, and their international relations were appreciated by Professor of Moscow state University Yu. G. Saushkin, A. I. Kovalev, Professor of the Perm state University. Sharygin M. D., Professor, St. Petersburg state University A. I. Chistobaev, Professor at the National University of Kazakhstan S. R. Erdavletov and Sh. M. Nadyrov.

The main objective of the Department is to continue the traditions of the scientific school of economic and social geography of Uzbekistan, formed by professors Z. M. by Abramovym and A. S. Alievym, maintain a healthy educational and research environment in the society and under the leadership of our President sh. M. Mirziyoyev. to make a worthy contribution to the training of highly qualified and competent personnel committed to the idea of national independence. Currently, the Department as a reference institution of Uzbekistan has active scientific relations with all regional higher education institutions, as well as with geographical educational institutions and research institutes in Russia, Rostov-on-don (ARGO, Russia), Kazakhstan (KazNU).

Specificity of training-as part of the faculty, the Department takes part in the preparation of bachelors and masters. Currently, the Department has ten professors-teachers. The scientific potential of the Department is 90%. PLACE OF THE DEPARTMENT IN THE SCALE OF THE UNIVERSITY AND FACULTY

Department of economic and social geography was founded in 1940, and over the years worked well-known scientists as G. N. Cherdantsev, S. D. Murawaki, V. G. Kuznetsov, V. M. Chetyrkin, R. S. Lobach, N. G.Smirnov, A. N. Brooms, M. G. Cadek, T. E. Egamberdiev, Z. M. Akramov O. B. ATA-Mirzaev, R. A. Khodeev, T. I. Raimov, S. S. Saidkarimov. From 1984 to 2010 the Department was headed by Professor A. S. Soliev. In 2010-2018 this task was performed by Ph. D., associate Professor M. I. Nazarov and D. SC., N. K. Komilova. Today the Department is headed by D. SC., Professor Z. N. Tojieva. The Department of economic and social geography was founded on September 5, 2018 on the basis of the Department "Geography". The Department has 5140600 - Geography, 5A140602 - Geography (the study object), 5A140603 Geodemography, 5À140604 Geourbanistics and in collaboration with the Kazan state University on a speciality "Economic geography and regional development" and doctoral (PhD) on specialty 11.00.02 - Economic and social geography and doctoral studies (DcS)

Currently, at the Department students are taught special disciplines 2 doctors of Sciences - professors, 7 candidates of Sciences - associate professors, 1 senior lecturer and one teacher. Most employees of the Department graduated from the faculty of geography of the University

Tojieva Zulkhumor Nazarovna - Head of the Department of Economic and social goegraphy of the national University of Uzbekistan named after Mirzo Ulugbek. Doctor of geographical Sciences Professor in 1993 graduated from the faculty of Geography of Tashkent State University. Currently, he is a member of the scientific Council for the issuance of scientific degrees DSc.27.06.2017.G. 01.06. Also Z. N. Tojieva member of the United Nations population Fund in Uzbekistan (UNFPA) and official member of the scientific seminar "Demography" organized by the centre "Family" under the Cabinet of Ministers of the R Ouse.  member doctor of geographical Sciences, Prof. In 1993 he graduated from the geographical faculty of Tashkent state University. Lectures for bachelors and masters in the areas of "Demography", "population Geography", "Geodemography". Z. N. Tojieva is an active participant in ezhegodnik international conference (Tashkent, Moscow, Sankt- Petersburg), the United Nations population Fund (UNFPA).  Z. N. Komilova Nilufar Karshibaeva - doctor of geographical Sciences, Professor. Currently, N. Komilova lectures to bachelors and masters students on special subjects "Theory and methodology of geography", "Medical geography and global health", "human Geography" and "Social geography", "Geography of tourism and recreation" and "Geographical basis of nature".


Mahmadaliev Ravshan Yuldashevich - candidate of geographical Sciences, associate Professor. In 1985 he graduated from Tashkent state University. Lectures to students on subjects "Basic problems of geography"and" Applied geography".


Nazarov Mamatkadyr Ismatullaevich - candidate of geographical Sciences, associate Professor. In 1989 he graduated from the geographical faculty of Tashkent state University. Lectures for bachelors and masters in special subjects "Political geography and foreign economic relations", "Geography of Uzbekistan"and" Geography of service".


Yanchuk Sergey Leonidovich-candidate of geographical Sciences, in 1998 graduated from the geographical faculty of Tashkent state University. S. L. Tashtaeva Saida Kaxarovna - candidate of geographical Sciences, associate Professor. In 1987 he graduated from the geographical faculty of Tashkent state University. S. K. Egamberdieva Matluba Mamadnazarova - candidate of geographical Sciences, associate Professor. In 2001 he graduated from the faculty of geography of the National University of Uzbekistan. M. M. Egamberdieva lectures to bachelors and masters students on special subjects "Methods of geographical research", "Geography of industry and agriculture"and" Geography of the Earth".


Egamberdieva Umriniso Tursunkulova - graduated from Tashkent state University (now the NUU) in 1982, majoring in geography (method of teaching). Senior lecturer conducts lectures and practical classes for bachelors and masters in Geography of Uzbekistan.


Kurbanov Shukhrat Bekmetovich in 2001 he graduated from the Tashkent state pedagogical Institute, majoring in geography, basics of Economics and entrepreneurship, in 2006 graduated from magistero. In 2017 he received the degree of doctor of philosophy (PhD).
