Position in the ranking as a competitive advantage
The attractiveness of the University for Applicants and the credibility of the diploma for employers are largely determined by the ranking position of this institution. On one hand, a rating is a help to talented young people seeking to get a high-quality education and allowing them to fully realize their potential. On the other hand, the higher the university’s position in the ranking, the greater the number of people who want to study there. In addition, in many countries, particularly in England, tuition fees depend on the place of a university in World University Ranking.
The ratings of the best universities are regularly compiled by various agencies.
The first rating was published by US News & World Report in 1983 as a response to the emergence of the globalization of higher education. Later they began to be composed not only by the media, but also by specialists.
In Academic year 2019-2020, National University of Uzbekistan named after Mirzo Ulugbek took part in several ranking systems: UI GreenMetric University Ranking, Times Higher Education Impact Ranking & World Ranking, QS World University Ranking. Some are expected to be published during 2020.
