Today, June 4, representatives of the Xi’an University of Foreign Languages, a leading higher educational institution of the People’s Republic of China specializing in linguistics, international relations, and humanities, visited the National University of Uzbekistan.
The delegation, headed by the chairman of the university’s party committee, Liu Zhentao, was received by the rector of the National University of Uzbekistan, Inom Madjidov. A meeting dedicated to cooperation issues was organized between the parties.
This visit became a logical continuation of the international dialogue within the framework of the China-Uzbekistan Forum “Innovative Cooperation in the Field of Education, Science and Technology,” held yesterday, June 1-2, in the city of Samarkand.
From the Chinese side, the meeting was attended by Director of the Institute of Economics and Finance Li Tsunpu, Director of the Institute of Arts Li Tze, Director of the Institute of Chinese Language and Culture, representative of the Central Asian Institute Pan Chengguan, Head of the Department of International Cooperation and Exchanges of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China Fan Hua, Director of the Institute of the Russian Language of the Russian Academy of Sciences Wen Yuysya.
At the beginning of the meeting, the parties presented information on educational areas, scientific potential, international programs, and scientific and practical projects. Then an exchange of views took place on cooperation in the field of foreign languages, the humanities, and the exact sciences.
The Chinese side put forward specific initiatives to create a “Digital Center” in the field of digital technologies at the National University of Uzbekistan, as well as to open a branch of XUFL in Uzbekistan. The Chinese delegation proposed to open an Uzbek language program at the Xi’an University of Foreign Languages.
The leadership of the National University of Uzbekistan noted that these proposals and initiatives will serve to further strengthen mutual cultural and humanitarian ties. Responsible persons were given appropriate instructions on the creation of a working group on mutual cooperation, the development and phased implementation of a practical program.
At the end of the meeting, the parties expressed mutual agreement on establishing long-term cooperation in such areas as the development of joint educational programs, scientific research, exchange of teachers and students.
