The Faculty of Journalism of the National University of Uzbekistan named after Mirzo Ulugbek was originally opened in 1949 as a branch of the philological faculty of the Central Asian State University. In 1967, the Faculty of Journalism received faculty status. The first dean of the Faculty of Journalism was appointed Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor Tugan Ernazarov. In 1999, the first graduates of the faculty were trained, and in 2001 – the first graduates of the magistracy. In 2001, the faculty began to operate digital and analogue broadcasting, mini-printing, information resource center.
