Greetings from the rector of the National University of Uzbekistan on the occasion of Teachers’ and Mentors’ Day

Professors and teachers of the National University of Uzbekistan!
Dear teachers!
Dear colleagues!

First of all, I sincerely congratulate you, dedicated people who have dedicated their lives to a difficult and honorable work, on Teachers’ and Mentors’ Day.

I express my deep gratitude to the professors, teachers, and the university staff who are working diligently, carrying out pedagogical and scientific activities. The worthy results achieved at our university in recent years, international recognition, and high positions in prestigious rankings are, first and foremost, the result of your dedicated work, loyalty, and high responsibility.

As is known, yesterday the President of our country delivered a speech from the highest rostrum of the United Nations. In his speeches, the head of our state particularly emphasized that in the New Uzbekistan, along with many other areas, significant changes have been made in the fields of education and science in a short period of time, and the sharp increase in the prestige and authority of the teaching profession is being considered as a crucial issue.

In order to create a single international platform for the mutual exchange of experience and knowledge of teachers, it was proposed to hold the World Summit on Vocational Education in Uzbekistan.

These speeches of the President of our country, delivered at the international stage, should become a program of action for us, and each of his proposals and initiatives should become a duty and a task that we must responsibly implement in the future.

Today, competition in the field of education is intensifying, and new transformations are becoming trendy. In such a dynamic period, the effective use of modern educational technologies by our professors and teachers, the strengthening of the mentor-student tradition, the creation of new educational and scientific literature, lectures delivered at international universities and international platforms, scientific innovations in various fields, I think, prove that the National University has its place in the scientific civilization of our region and the world.

If we talk about the figures, today more than 1200 professors and teachers work in the main staff of our university, of which 11 academicians, 240 doctors of science, professors, 480 candidates of science, associate professors contribute to the organization of scientific and pedagogical processes. In addition, the university has more than 60 professors and teachers with a Hirsch index of 5 and above.

As of September 2025, 50 university professors and teachers, including 9 Doctors of Science (DSc) and 41 Doctors of Philosophy (PhD), successfully defended their doctoral dissertations.

Our work to improve the quality of education, create decent conditions for professors and teachers, scientists engaged in scientific activities, and stimulate their hard work will continue more effectively and consistently.

As the President noted, “In the New Uzbekistan, the most important sphere is education, and the most respected people are teachers and mentors!”

I wish all of you new achievements and success in your fruitful work and personal life on this honorable path.

May peace and tranquility always reign in your homes!

May you always be healthy!

Inom MADJIDOV,
Rector of the National University of Uzbekistan
