The Department of Applied English and Literature was established on September 6, 2021 in the section of English Philology. Currently, the department has 20 full-time teachers, 3 PhDs, 2 senior teachers, 4 intern-teachers, 9 teachers are working.
Using modern teaching methods, new pedagogical and information-innovative technologies, video course, electronic guide, slide-presentation, multimedia educational resources at the Faculty of Foreign Philology of the National University of Uzbekistan , lectures and practical training are being conducted for undergraduates.
The department conducts lectures and practical training on the following subjects:
In the bachelor’s degree – “Reading and written speech skills”, “Oral speech skills”, “Listening comprehension competence”, “Aspects of the studied practical language”, “Communicative grammar”, “Independent language” language skills”, “Intercultural communication”, “Theoretical aspects of the language being studied”, “Introduction to linguistics”, “Local studies of Uzbekistan”, “Country studies”, “Language of mass media”, “Lexicology”, “General Linguistics”, “Literary Studies and World Literature”.
All lectures and practical training of these subjects are conducted in properly equipped auditoriums with extensive and efficient use of multimedia educational resources, and when the situation requires, they are conducted online or offline.
The head of the department, Bolibekova Mavluta Mardievna, Doctor of Philosophy (PhD), Associate Professor V.B.
Bolibekova Mavluda Mardievna was born on August 30, 1970 in Koshrobot district of Samarkand region, Uzbek nationality.
In 1992, he graduated from the Tashkent State Pedagogical Institute of Foreign Languages named after F.Engels, majoring in English.
Total work experience: 31 years, scientific and pedagogical work experience – 31 years, since 1999 he has been working at the Faculty of Foreign Philology of the National University of Uzbekistan:
- 1987-1992. – Tashkent State Institute of Foreign Languages, student of the Faculty of English;
- 1990-1993. – English teacher of secondary school 49, Koshrabot district, Samarkand region;
- 1993-1999. – English teacher of secondary school 34, Koshrabot district, Samarkand region;
- 1999-2005. – Senior teacher of the department of foreign languages for the socio-political and philosophy faculties of the National University of Uzbekistan;
- 2005-2008 – National University of Uzbekistan, senior teacher of the department of foreign languages in the fields of interfaculty socio-political sciences, business and jurisprudence;
- 2008-2010 – Senior teacher of the Department of Foreign Languages of the Faculty of Foreign Philology of the National University of Uzbekistan in the fields of socio-political sciences, business and law;
- 2010-2013 – Senior teacher of the Department of Foreign Languages of the Faculty of Foreign Philology of the National University of Uzbekistan in social and humanitarian directions;
- 2014-2016 – Acting as the head of the Department of Foreign Languages of the Faculty of Foreign Philology of the National University of Uzbekistan in socio-humanitarian directions;
- 2016-2020 – Senior teacher of the Department of English at the Faculty of Foreign Philology of the National University of Uzbekistan;
- 2020-2021 – Ph.D., Associate Professor, Department of English Philology, Faculty of Foreign Philology, National University of Uzbekistan;

In 2019, he received the degree of Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in philology. 2019 Dissertation at the Academic Council numbered DSc.26.04.2018.Phil.01.10 of the National University of Uzbekistan, Samarkand State Institute of Foreign Languages, Andijan State University on the topic “Linguistic interpretation of participles and sentences in Uzbek and English” at 10.00 .06 – defended in the specialty “Comparative literature studies, cross-linguistics and translation studies”.
According to the decision 265/1 dated 31.05.2019 by the Higher Attestation Commission of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the scientific degree of doctor of philosophy in philological sciences was awarded (diploma 01 No. 001589).
