The Department of Differential Equations was established in 1980 at the initiative of Academicians M. Salokhiddinov and A. Azamov. From 1980 to 1987, it was headed by Academician M. S. Salokhiddinov. In subsequent years, the department was led by Academician A. A. Azamov and Professors S. Abdinazarov and O.S.Zikirov.
The Department of Mathematical Physics was founded in 2000. Over the years, it was headed by Academician Sh. A. Alimov and Professors S. R. Umarov, A. R. Khalmukhamedov, and Sh.G. Kasimov.
In November 2014, as a result of the merger of the two university departments — “Differential Equations” and “Mathematical Physics” — the Department of Differential Equations and Mathematical Physics was established. From 2014 to 2021, the department was headed by Professor O. S. Zikirov. Currently, the department is headed by Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences A. R. Khalmukhamedov.
At present, the Department of Differential Equations and Mathematical Physics comprises Academicians Sh. A. Alimov and A. A. Azamov; Professors and Doctors of Sciences O. S. Zikirov, A. R. Khalmukhamedov, B. Islamov, N. Mamadaliev, Sh. G. Kasimov, and Yu. E. Fayziev; Associate Professors K. T. Buvaev, E. I. Kuchkarov, T.N. Alikulov, Z. S. Madrakhimova, and Kh. Ya. Mustapokulov; Lecturers A. K. Korakulov, M. M. Sagdullaeva, A. P. Koshanov, A. E. Bekniyazov, and I. Suleymonov, as well as six PhD students and two independent researchers. The faculty members deliver lectures on Ordinary Differential Equations, Equations of Mathematical Physics, the Calculus of Variations and Optimization Methods, Game Theory, Optimal Control and Process Analysis, Modern Methods of Mathematical Physics, Integral Equations and Pseudodifferential Operators, as well as Higher Mathematics.
The department trains master’s students in the specialty 70540101 – Mathematics, and PhD and doctoral candidates in the specialty 01.01.02 – “Differential Equations and Mathematical Physics.”
The department organizes citywide scientific seminars entitled “Differential Equations and Current Problems of Mathematical Physics,” supervised by Academicians of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Uzbekistan Sh. A. Alimov and A. R. Khalmukhamedov, and “Optimal Control and Differential Games,” named after N.Yu.Satimov, supervised by Academician A. A. Azamov and Professor N. Mamadaliev. Faculty members actively participate in these seminars and present the results of their research.
