The Department of Hydrogeology of the Central Asian State University was founded in 1926 by prof. It was organized under the leadership of O.K. Lange within the Faculty of Physics and Mathematics.
In the environment of Central Asia, the water shortage, the increase in the need for fresh ground water, and the development of land made it necessary to accelerate the hydrogeological work. Due to this, based on the decision of the Cabinet of Ministers, in 1952, this specialty was revived at the university, and the Department of Hydrogeology and Engineering Geology was headed by prof. It was organized under the leadership of M.M. Krylov.
From 1952 to 2009, the department was headed by M.M. Krylov, A.S. Khasanov, P.P. Nagevich, V.G. Samoilenko, N.T. Takhirov, U.U. Umarov, D.V. Zakhidova, since 2019, N.R. Tadjibaeva has been working as the head of the department.
prof. V.G. Gafurov, A.S. Khasanov, Assoc. F.I. Voronov, P.P. Nagevich, V.G. Samoilenko, N.T. Takhirov and others made a great contribution.
The staff of the department has been maintaining and developing the traditions of the scientific-pedagogical school since the establishment of the department. In 1952-1990, the department took an active part in providing training in hydrogeological and engineering geological cycle sciences on the basis of the faculties of geology, biology and geography. After 1952, the department trained about 2000 specialists. Graduates of the department K.B. He fills the scientific and engineering staff of “Uzbekhydrogeology” and “HIDROINGEO” institutes.
Currently, the Young Hydrogeologists’ Circle is active in the department. The group is led by teacher S. Suyunov. 25 students regularly attend the club.
In addition, the department has established cooperation with many enterprises and organizations (“Uzbekhydrogeology”, “HIDROINGEO” Institute, Uzbek Institute of Geophysics “Institute of Geology and Geophysics” named after H.M. Abdullayev DM).
