In 2021, in accordance with the decision of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated November 17, 2020 No. 4896 “On measures to further improve the activities of the hydrometeorological service of the Republic of Uzbekistan”, the department will be opened at the National University of Uzbekistan starting from the 2021/2022 academic year was formed on the basis of the newly established Faculty of Hydrometeorology.

Currently, 1 doctor of science, 2 candidates of science, 2 senior teachers, 1 teacher, 2 intern-teachers and 1 basic doctoral student are conducting scientific-pedagogical activities in the department. Also, during the educational process, prof. S.V. Myagkov, Ph.D. Scientists and experts such as T.A. Akhmedovalar, Ph.D. from the Scientific Research Institute of Irrigation and Water Problems, Prof. I.E. Makhmudov will participate.

The main educational courses of the department are geophysics, hydrometry, hydraulics, atmospheric physics, synoptic meteorology, climatology, general hydrology, glaciology, lake science, hydrometeorological calculations, hydrological forecasts, agrometeorology.
