The Department of Mathematical Analysis was founded in 1938 by Professor N.N. Nazarov at the National University of Uzbekistan named after Mirzo Ulugbek (formerly Tashkent State University).
In different periods, the Department was headed by Associate Professor R.A. Shelkunov, Professor A.S. Arjanikh, and Associate Professor F.S. Khodjimullayev.
From 1966 to 1982, the Department was chaired by Professor L.I. Volkoviskiy. During this period, significant research was carried out under his leadership on geometric problems in the theory of functions of a complex variable.
From 1992 to 2001, the Department was headed by Professor G. Khudayberganov, who continued and further developed the established scientific traditions.
Between 2001 and 2007, Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences B.A. Shaimkulov served as Head of the Department.
In 2012–2017, the Department was chaired by Associate Professor N.M. Jabborov.
In 1983–1992, 2007–2012, and 2017–2023, the Department was led by Academician A.S. Sadullaev. Under his leadership, a distinguished scientific school in the theory of functions of several complex variables was established. Nearly ten talented young researchers conducted studies in this field and achieved internationally recognized results.
Since 2023, the Department has been headed by Professor B.A. Shaimkulov.
