Today, an international conference on the topic “Chingiz Aitmatov – the common pride of the Turkic world” was held at the National University of Uzbekistan named after Mirzo Ulugbek in collaboration with the Writers’ Union of Uzbekistan. As part of the conference, a presentation of Uzbek-language translations of the works of the famous writer Roza Aitmatov “The Letter Has Arrived” and Qanibek Imonaliyev “Kyrgyznoma” was organized.
Also, the Chairman of the Writers’ Union of Uzbekistan Sirojiddin Sayyid, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kyrgyz Republic to Uzbekistan Duyshonkul Chotonov, Chairman of the Writers’ Union of Kyrgyzstan Kanibek Imonaliev, Editor-in-Chief of the “Jahon Adabiyati” magazine Ahmadjon Meliboyev, Professor of the National University of Uzbekistan Hamidulla Boltaboev, and translator Nurali Qobul emphasized the place and significance of Chingiz Aitmatov’s work in the cultural heritage of the Turkic peoples in their speeches.
People’s Poet of Kyrgyzstan Markaboy Amatov and Director of the “Uzbekistan – Kyrgyzstan” Friendship Society Zuhriddin Isomiddonov also made speeches and spoke about initiatives aimed at strengthening literary and cultural ties between the two peoples.
As part of the event, an initiative was put forward to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Chingiz Aitmatov’s birth on an international scale and to declare 2028 the “Year of Chingiz Aitmatov” by the UN.
This conference was one of the important steps towards strengthening cultural and literary ties between the Turkic peoples and widely promoting the legacy of the great writer Chingiz Aitmatov.
