Professor of the Department of Philosophy of the Faculty of Social Sciences, Doctor of Philosophical Sciences Niginakhon Shermukhamedova, Associate Professor of the Department of Legal Sciences, Doctor of Philosophical Sciences (DSc) Jaloliddin Yusupov, and PhD student Ulmasbek Sharopov from the National University of Uzbekistan participated in the international forum held at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University with their presentations.
The main goal of the annual forum is to explain the spiritual, historical, and philosophical foundations of the development of modern society through al-Farabi’s rich heritage, to unite domestic and foreign scholars studying the thinker’s legacy, and to create a new platform for dialogue and cooperation between leading world scholars.
More than 100 university scholars from Uzbekistan, the USA, Russia, Italy, Kyrgyzstan, Turkey, Azerbaijan, Syria, Egypt, and Iran are participating in the forum.
The event began with an international scientific and practical conference on the topic “The Legacy of Al-Farabi in the History of Humanity”. It was opened by the Deputy Chairman of the Board – First Vice-Rector of KazNU Erkin Duysenov. “Thanks to the fundamental research of our country’s scientists, the name of Abu Nasr Farabi has become a cultural symbol, and his heritage, based on Turkic culture and spirituality, has become a source of Kazakh culture and national pride”, said the First Vice-Rector.
Honorary guests also spoke at the opening of the conference: Educational Counselor of the Consulate General of the Republic of Turkey in Almaty, Ayhan Korkmaz, Deputy Ambassador of Saudi Arabia to the Republic of Kazakhstan, Saleh Albedah, Director of the Cultural Mission of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Almaty, Hussein Aghazade, Honorary Consul of Syria in Kazakhstan, Derek Sami, and others.
Within the framework of the plenary session, well-known scientists – Professor of the Department of Philosophy of the Al-Farabi National University of Kazakhstan, Doctor of Philosophical Sciences, Scientific Advisor of the Al-Farabi Center Jakipbek Altayev, Head of the Department of History of Philosophy of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences of Rudny University, Doctor of Philosophical Sciences, Professor, Specialist in Arab-Muslim Philosophy, Honored Scientist of the Russian Federation Nur Karibayev (Russia), Corresponding Member of the National Academy of Sciences of Kazakhstan, Doctor of Philosophical Sciences, Professor, Chief Researcher of the Institute of Philosophy, Political Science and Religious Studies of the Ministry of Public Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan Natalya Seytakhmetova (Kazakhstan) and others delivered reports on topical issues of modern Farabian studies. The work of the conference continued at sectoral meetings.
At the international forum, Professor Niginakhon Shermukhamedova of the Department of Philosophy of the Faculty of Social Sciences of the National University of Uzbekistan was awarded the “Al-Farabi” gold medal. Also, Associate Professor of the Department of “Legal Sciences”, Doctor of Philosophy (DSc) Jaloliddin Yusubov and PhD student Ulmasbek Sharopov conducted lectures for PhD students, masters, and students of the university and were awarded a special certificate.
