During the years of independence, the department of “Civil Society and Legal Education” has been variously named on the basis of changes and optimizations in the education system. In particular, in 1995 he was one of the first in the Republic of Uzbekistan to study at Tashkent State University (now the National University of Uzbekistan). On the basis of the merger of the departments was renamed the Department of Political Science, and on the basis of the department was organized educational direction “Political Science”. In 1996, on the instructions of the Cabinet of Ministers, the Department of Theory and Practice of Building a Democratic Society in Uzbekistan was established. In the 2007-2008 academic year, by order of the rector of the National University of Uzbekistan, the departments of “Political Science” and “Theory and Practice of Building a Democratic Society in Uzbekistan” were merged and renamed the Department of “Political Science”. According to the order of the rector of the university dated November 1, 2014 No 01-394, the department of “Political Science” was renamed “Theory and practice of building a democratic state and civil society.” From 1995 to 2013, the department studied 437 bachelors and 180 masters in the field of “Political Science”. Since 2002, the department has more than 1,000 bachelors in “National Idea, Spirituality and Legal Education”, 300 in “Social Philosophy”, “Social and Philosophical Issues of the National Idea” and “Methods of Teaching Social Sciences and Humanities (Fundamentals of Spirituality)”. more than masters.
In order to fully study the content of the reforms implemented in Uzbekistan, laws, decrees, resolutions and decisions of the Cabinet of Ministers and other adopted regulations, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan on May 11, 2016 “On measures to further improve the National University of Uzbekistan” In accordance with the Resolution No. PQ-2527, changes were made to the structure of the National University of Uzbekistan, and the department was renamed “Theory and Practice of Democratic State-Building.” The department of “National Idea and Legal Education” was established on June 27, 2012 by the decision of the Academic Council of the National University of Uzbekistan named after Mirzo Ulugbek.
On May 12, 2014 by the order of the rector of the National University of Uzbekistan the department of “Social Philosophy” and the department of “National Idea and Law Education” were merged and renamed “National Idea and Social Philosophy”. idea. As a result of merging the departments of “Theory and Practice of Democratic State Building” and “National Idea” on the basis of the order of the Rector of the University dated October 4, 2019 No 01-811, the department was renamed the Department of “Civil Society and Legal Education”. In different years professor M.Ganieva, professor A.Azizxonov, docent D.Khabibullaeva, docent G.Yusupova, professor B.Tuychiev, professor Q.Nazarov, professor Q.Quronboev, professor A.Muminov, docent F.Jurakulov, docent O.Muhammadieva worked as the head of the department. Since 2012, Professor A. Utamurodov has been acting as the head of the department.
