A round table on the occasion of the Day of Combating Gender Violence was organized at the National University of Uzbekistan.
The round table began with an introductory speech by Ranohon Rustamova, Advisor to the Rector for Women’s Affairs of the National University of Uzbekistan, and Saidakhon Azamkhodjaeva, Professor of the Department of Legal Sciences at the Faculty of Social Sciences.
Then the speakers made a report on the possibilities and problems of women’s education in our country, their protection from harassment and violence, and the fight against domestic violence.
For reference, in 2014, the UN Secretary-General declared the initiative “UNiTE,” aimed at eliminating violence against women, open. In this regard, various events are held annually on a global scale from November 25 to December 10 under the “16 Days Against Violence.”
By the resolution of the UN General Assembly of December 17, 1999, November 25 was designated as the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women.
The “16 Days Against Violence” initiative will last until 10 December.
