A delegation comprising representatives from several universities, under the responsibility of the Italian Ministry of Universities and Research, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, and the Italian Embassy, met with the leadership of the National University of Uzbekistan.
The delegation, which included Federico Failla, coordinator of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation; Marco Farchi, advisor to the Minister of Universities and Research; Professor Carlo Frappi of Ca’ Foscari University; Maurizio Acciari, representative of Bicocca University; Enrico Veschetti, representative of the Istituto Superiore di Sanità; Andrea Zinzani, representative of the University of Bologna; and other specialists, exchanged views on important issues.
Inom Madjidov, the rector of the National University of Uzbekistan who welcomed the guests, first provided information about the country’s higher education system, the work accomplished in the field in recent years, and the activities of the university.
Proposals were made to address existing global problems in the fields of ecology and environment, water resources, agriculture, and renewable energy, as well as to establish comprehensive cooperation for the development of relevant sectors.
Under the coordination of the National University of Uzbekistan, necessary steps were outlined to establish cooperation between higher educational institutions of Italy and Central Asia, thereby expanding the geography of international relations.
