A republican scientific conference was held on the occasion of Ulmas Umarbekov’s 90th birthday

At the Faculty of Journalism and Uzbek Philology, the National University of Uzbekistan, the Institute of Uzbek Language, Literature and Folklore of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Uzbekistan, and the Writers’ Union of Uzbekistan held a republican scientific conference “Dedicated to the life and work of the writer” on the occasion of the 90th anniversary of the People’s Writer of Uzbekistan, Honored Artist of Uzbekistan Ulmas Umarbekov.

The conference was opened by the Head of the Department of Uzbek Literature, Professor H. Boltaboyev. The dean of the faculty M.Chorshanbiyev noted that the anniversary of Ulmas Umarbekov is being held by order of the Cabinet of Ministers and wished success in the work of the conference.

The poet Salim Ashur from the Writers’ Union of Uzbekistan spoke about the work of Ulmas Umarbekov, read his poems and donated his books to the library of the faculty.

After that, it was time for the presentations. Dr. Rano Mullakhodjaeva spoke on Ulmas Umarbekov’s mastery in dramaturgy, Dr. Bahor Turaeva presented on the poetics of microchronotope in Ulmas Umarbekov’s prose, Associate Professor Dilfuza Khatamova discussed Ulmas Umarbekov’s works in Russian, Dr. Zebo Sabirova addressed the expression of national spirit in Ulmas Umarbekov’s stories, and Jasmina Ibodova, a 3rd-year student of the Uzbek Philology Faculty, presented on philosophical and didactic views in Ulmas Umarbekov’s works. Jasmina Ibodova, a 3rd year student at the Faculty of Uzbek Philology, spoke on the topic of philosophical and didactic views in the works of Zebo Sabirova and Ulmas Umarbekov.

The poet Salim Ashur presented a collection of selected works by Ulmas Umarbekov as a gift to Jasmina Ibodova, a 3rd-year student.

The Deputy Dean for Spiritual and Educational Affairs of the Faculty, R. Omonov, concluded the conference.
