Honorary Doctor of the National University of Uzbekistan Aziz Sanjar was awarded the Alisher Navoi International Prize.

Within the framework of the informal summit of the Organization of Turkic States in Budapest, the ceremony of awarding the Alisher Navoi International Prize “For Contribution to the Unity of the Turkic World” took place.

This year, the prize was awarded to the renowned Turkish biochemist, Nobel laureate, honorary doctor of the National University of Uzbekistan Aziz Sanjar.

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, sincerely congratulating Aziz Sanjar, especially noted that the awarding of this prestigious award to a scientist will inspire scientists of the Turkic world, including young people, to achieve new heights.

The award of the Organization of Turkic States named after the great thinker and statesman Alisher Navoi was established in 2021 at the initiative of the leader of Uzbekistan. It is awarded every two years for a special contribution to promoting Turkic culture, maintaining peace, ensuring security and strengthening trust, as well as expanding cooperation between Turkic peoples in various fields.

The award was first presented in 2022 to the late Kyrgyz writer and public figure Chingiz Aitmatov.
