The Rector of the National University of Uzbekistan reviewed the activities of the Nanotechnology Development Center under the university. During the visit, the Rector examined a state-of-the-art instrument — the Thermo Scientific Apreo ChemiSEM scanning electron microscope — recently installed at the center, and emphasized its importance for research processes.
The Rector also put forward a number of proposals and recommendations aimed at further improving the center’s performance, promoting the practical implementation of research outcomes, supporting young researchers, and expanding international scientific cooperation.

The Thermo Scientific Apreo ChemiSEM scanning electron microscope provides extensive opportunities for conducting research in nanotechnology, nanomaterials science, metallurgy, and mineralogy. The instrument enables high-precision analysis of the size, morphology, and elemental composition of nanomaterials at the nanometer scale.

The microscope is equipped with advanced detectors and a high-resolution optical system, providing a resolution of up to 1 nanometer. In addition, it features EDS (energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy), which allows for the determination of the chemical composition of samples and mapping of the spatial distribution of elements. This capability is particularly important for comprehensive studies of semiconductor and composite materials.

The instrument contributes to enhancing the effectiveness of both fundamental and applied research in fields such as nanotechnology, advanced materials science, energy (solar cells and lithium-ion batteries), microelectronics, chemistry, and biology. It also serves as a key scientific and technological platform for developing new materials, improving existing technologies, and introducing innovative solutions into industry.
