In connection with the 43rd session of the UNESCO General Conference being held in Samarkand this year, higher educational institutions, in cooperation with embassies, are organizing events to widely promote the three-thousand-year history of our national statehood, centuries-old traditions and values, and cultural heritage in foreign countries.
In this regard, a delegation headed by the rector of the National University of Uzbekistan, Inom Madjidov, is visiting Sweden. During the trip, meetings and negotiations with several partners are scheduled.
On February 17, Rector Inom Madjidov met with Bo Libert, the Swedish Aral Sea Society. Initially, a presentation was made on the work being carried out in Uzbekistan to protect the environment and eliminate the Aral Sea problem, in particular, the experience of the National University of Uzbekistan in the Muynak district and the dried-up areas of the Aral Sea.
In particular, it was noted that the university has created 2 educational and scientific experimental bases on an area of 1.7 hectares, in which student practice and research work of professors and teachers in this area are carried out.
Bo Libert, head of the Swedish Aral Sea Society, proposed cooperation with the university in the field of ecology and sustainable development goals, organizing weekly online classes in English for students.
Following the meeting, an agreement was reached on the implementation of joint scientific projects in the field of ecology and environmental protection in cooperation with the National University of Uzbekistan and the Swedish Aral Sea Society.
