Currently, the University has 1,279 professors and teachers, 501 of them are PhDs, and 249 are Doctors of Science.
The University has 11 specialized Boards. Over the past 3 years, overall 313 scientific defenses have been carried out, of which 242 candidate (PhD) and 71 doctoral (DSc) dissertations. 42 professors and doctoral students of the University were defended in 2017, 74 - in 2018, 89 - in 2019 (the number of defenses increased 2.1 times compared to 2017). The scientific potential of the university is 58.6% (an increase of 5.5% compared to 2017).
The university has 206 PhD doctoral students and 12 DSc doctoral students in 85 specialties. By 2020, 135 basic doctoral programs in 85 specialties and 7 doctoral programs in 7 specialties were accepted.(admission quota increased by 35% compared to 2019).
In order to attract gifted youth to research activities in cooperation with network universities of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Uzbekistan, a practice was organized for 188 masters and scientific advisers and curators of the Academy of Sciences were appointed.
12 compatriots who were defended and worked in foreign higher education institutions were recruited (US, France, Germany, Australia, Netherlands, China, South Korea, Malaysia).
34 professors and teachers, 26 doctoral students, 21 masters, and 24 undergraduates have trained and participated in the scientific internships in foreign universities. A total of 105 (65 in 2018, 62% growth).
16 teachers and staff were sent to the leading universities in the UK, France, Germany, Italy and Japan to study for a doctorate (PhD).
38 of the university graduates are currently studying in master‘s programs at leading foreign universities. (USA, Switzerland, Japan, Poland, Germany, Russia).
In the framework of the joint educational program with the Moscow State University named after M.Lomonosov, admission to the magistracy "Psychology (social psychology)", "Artificial intelligence" was carried out.
Under the Erasmus + program, training for doctoral students was organized in the field of DSinGIS: Geoinformatics.
4 (2 in 2018) patents, 17 (18 in 2018) certificates for information and communication technologies and electronic databases, 15 copyright certificates (6 in 2018) have been received.
The centre was formed for Technology and Innovation Support in collaboration with the Intellectual Property Agency under the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
136 articles (82 in 2018) were published in journals with impact factor on the Scopus scientific and technical base, and 411 (328 in 2018) in the journals of the HAC were published. The scientific publications of scientists of the Republic are given 74 thousand quotations, of which 22 thousand (31%) are cited in scientific publications of the professors and teachers of the National university of Uzbekistan.
There 16 national (6 in 2018) and 7 (5 in 2018) international conferences were held. 94 scientific and innovative projects worth 10 billion sum and 10 international projects worth $ 584,000are being implemented.
