History of the department

The Department of Russian Linguistics has a long history. At the end of the 30s of the 20th century, interfaculty departments of foreign languages, Russian and Uzbek languages ​​were established at the Central Asian State University (SASU).
In 1942, the faculty of history and philology of SASU was divided into two independent faculties – history and philology. At the same time, the department of Russian linguistics was established, and the interfaculty department of Russian language was integrated into it. The department was headed by a famous Russian scientist, professor Stepan Dmitrievich Nikiforov, who organized lectures on modern and historical linguistics.
Famous linguists who have made a great contribution to the development of Russian linguistics and are famous not only in our country but also abroad as heads of the department over the past years: prof. G. I. Kolyada, prof. A.N. Tikhonov, prof. O. M. Kim, Ph.D. I.B. Shatunovsky, Assoc. L.L. Kim, Assoc. E. Sh. Mirochnik, Assoc. S.I.Zinin worked.
Today, their students continue the best scientific and pedagogical traditions of Russian studies in Uzbekistan.
In recent decades, the scientific potential of the department has grown.Ph.D. in the department. Professor A.G. Sheremetyeva, candidates of philological sciences, associate professors N.N. Shitka, E.A. Alieva, Kukatova O.A., Tsoi A.P., Ataeva R.R., senior teachers with extensive experience in university activities, Rogozinnikova N.G., Khalilov F.Kh., Faizova F.Sh., young innovative teachers are working.
Highly qualified scientific-pedagogical personnel were trained at the department: more than 30 young teachers and doctoral students of higher educational institutions of our republic defended their candidate theses and received the degree of doctor of philosophy (PhD) in philological sciences.
For many years, Professor A.G. Sheremetyeva has been the chairman of the specialized council for the defense of theses, associate professor N.N. Qalkan fulfilled the duties of the Scientific Secretary of the Council, professors and teachers of the department actively participate in the work of the special council and scientific seminars, and have been giving all their efforts to the training of scientific personnel of philologist-Russian scientists for our republic.
The Department of Russian Linguistics is one of the graduate departments of the Faculty of Foreign Philology. In addition to the traditional “Philology and language teaching (Russian)” major of the bachelor’s program, which prepares wide-profile philologists-specialists, “Native language and literature (Russian language and literature)”, “Native language and literature (Russian language in foreign language groups)” and literature)” directions.
The department mainly prepares teachers of Russian language and literature for schools and secondary special educational institutions capable of teaching the Russian language, which meet the needs of our republic for the Russian language. In 2013, the master’s specialty 5A120102 – Linguistics (Russian) was reopened.
The department is responsible for the State educational standards for higher educational institutions of the republic, the qualification requirements for the teaching content of undergraduate and graduate courses, as well as several other normative educational, methodological and technical documents. is the developer of generations.
The professors-teachers of the department keep up with the times, regularly update the content and forms of teaching linguistics, develop and publish textbooks of new generation higher educational institutions, teaching and learning based on new pedagogical technologies. is working on the preparation of methodological manuals. The department has developed unique special courses on the history of the Russian language, and teaches modern Slavic languages.
Members of the department present the results of their scientific achievements at international and national scientific conferences, publish articles in scientific journals and collections.
During the years of independence, the scientific relations of the department with higher educational institutions, research and educational institutions of our republic were strengthened. Agreements on cooperation were concluded with SamSU, Andijan University, TDPU named after Nizomi and UzDJTU. Relations with Russian and Ukrainian cultural centers, academic lyceums, educational schools, libraries and museums in Uzbekistan were strengthened. In the 70s and 80s of the 20th century, the Uzbek scientific school on Russian word formation was formed at the department. Professor A.N. Tikhonov, whose activities are inextricably linked with SamSU and the National University of Uzbekistan, is the founder of this scientific school.
A.N. Tikhonov created the word formation dictionary for the first time in world lexicography. Teachers, postgraduates and doctoral students, students of the Department of Russian Linguistics took part in its preparation. These wonderful lexicographic sources served as material for further scientific research within the framework of the established scientific school. Conferences and seminars are held annually within the scientific school, and the geography of their participants is expanding year by year (Russia, Kazakhstan, USA, Japan and other countries). Currently, student of A.N. Tikhonov, Ph.D. department professor A.G. Sheremetyeva is leading.
The professors and teachers of the department pay great attention not only to the professional training of future philologists, but also to the education of the new mature generation of our country, conducting educational, cultural and educational activities.
Traditional republican scientific and scientific-practical conferences, seminars and thematic roundtables are organized in the department. The seminar “Actual problems of Russian word formation” is regularly held within the framework of the scientific school. The number of participants of the scientific conference on the theme “Russian language and literature in Uzbekistan”, which brings together teachers from all levels of the educational system, from school to university, is increasing year by year. At the “Young Philology of Uzbekistan” conference, which is traditionally held, young scientists and talented students present the results of their scientific research.
One direction of the department’s activity is the organization and holding of the republican Olympiad in the subject of Russian language and literature, as a result of which the students of the Slavic department took pride of place several times.
The Department of Russian Linguistics is a creative team with great scientific potential, able to solve the current problems of the modern educational process. The prospects of the department’s scientific activity are further development of theoretical problems of modern linguistics, multifaceted description of the facts of the Russian language in their current state and functional dynamics, referring to the historical formation.
