The Faculty of Social Sciences (until 1991, the Faculty of Philosophy-Economics, until 1991-2014, the Faculty of Philosophy) was established in 1979 and began to be called the Faculty of Social Sciences in 2014. Initially, departments of philosophy, psychology, economics, and political science operated within the faculty.
At the Faculty of Social Sciences, starting from the 2021-2022 academic year, training of personnel has been established in the areas of Political Science and Patent Studies, and from the 2022-2023 academic year – in the areas of Jurisprudence.
Today, the faculty has 10 departments, 2 educational and scientific laboratories, and a “Legal Clinic.”
The Faculty of Social Sciences is one of the basic faculties that trains qualified bachelors and masters who have deeply acquired knowledge and skills aimed at educating young people in the spirit of patriotism, forming in them a sense of belonging, who have mastered foreign languages to convey to the consciousness of various segments of the population the social, spiritual, and political reforms being carried out in Uzbekistan, who can be an example for young people with their spiritual image.
The faculty employs 32 Doctors of Science (DcS) professors, 47 Candidates of Science (PhD) associate professors, and more than 100 senior lecturers, instructors, and assistants.
More than 5,500 students are studying at the bachelor’s level, 260 master’s students are studying at the master’s level, and more than 50 researchers are studying in doctoral studies and basic doctoral studies.

The faculty is carrying out extensive work to establish mutually beneficial cooperation with prestigious scientific and educational centers of foreign countries.
Currently, more than 20 foreign students from the United States of America, Russia, China, Ukraine, Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Kazakhstan are studying at the faculty.
In particular, our faculty has established cooperation with leading specialized higher educational institutions abroad.
In the field of philosophy, scientific and practical cooperation has been established with the Hofstra University of the USA, Indiana University, Philosopher Konstantin University in Nitra, Slovakia, Mukhtar Auezov South Kazakhstan University, University of San Pablo, Spain, Belarusian State University, Belarusian Philosophical Institute at the Belarusian National Academy of Sciences, L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University, Baku State University, Azerbaijan, Dagestan State University, Grozny University of Oil and Gas, Tajik National University, Tajik State Polytechnic University named after Osimi, Kyrgyz-Turkish University named after Manas, Kazakh National University named after al-Farabi, as well as national cultural centers of France.
In the field of pedagogy, scientific and pedagogical cooperation agreements have been concluded with Kazan Federal University (Russia), Belgorod State National Research University (Russia), Kainar Academy (Kazakhstan), South Kazakhstan University named after Mukhtar Auezov, Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, Abay Kazakh National Pedagogical University, Dulati Taraz State University, and Tajikistan Educational Academies.
In the field of psychology: Poland (University of Warsaw, Polytechnica Lubelska), Russia (MGU), South Ural State University, First Saint Petersburg State Medical University, Turkey (Sakarya University, Kirikale University), Belarus (Belarusian State University), Kazakhstan (Kazakh National University named after Al-Farabi, Karaganda University named after Academician Y.A. Buketov), Russian Federation (Ural Federal University)
In the field of political science, cooperation has been established with the University of Amsterdam in the Netherlands, Tver State University in Russia, the University of Jenmin and Lanzhou in China, the Director of the Institute for the Study of Asian and European Countries of the National Academy of Sciences of Tajikistan, and the University of South Kazakhstan named after M. Auezov.
In the field of jurisprudence, cooperation has been established with Lund University (Sweden), the Central Asian Institute at Shaanxi Pedagogical University (China), and Moscow State University (Russia).
