Raima Shirinova was born on December 21, 1971, in the Bukhara region.
From 1988 to 1993, she studied at Tashkent State University, where she earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in “Philology and Language Teaching: French Language.”
In 2002, she defended her PhD dissertation on the topic “Specificity of Translating Religious Realities.” Later, in 2017, she completed her doctoral dissertation (DSc) titled “Reconstruction of the National Worldview in Literary Translation.” She holds the titles of Doctor of Sciences, Professor, and since 2019 has been an academician of the Turon Academy.
Between 2005 and 2009, she successfully completed a second specialty in “Jurisprudence” at the National University of Uzbekistan.
From 2017 to 2019, she served as Executive Director of the Uzbekistan–France Friendship Society (on a voluntary basis).
Since 2019, she has held the position of Vice-Rector for International Relations at the National University of Uzbekistan. In addition, since 2020 she has served as Deputy Chair of the OWSD (Organization for Women in Science for the Developing World) for Central Asia, as well as Deputy Chair of the Women’s Association of Uzbekistan “Olima.”
Her academic research focuses on translation theory and practice, cultural studies, linguoculturology, lexicography, phraseography, parallel corpora, and educational issues. Her articles have been published in prestigious international scientific journals indexed in Web of Science and Scopus.
From 2017 to 2023, she completed professional development and academic exchange programs at leading foreign universities, including:

International Experience and Achievements
– As Vice-Rector, she has actively contributed to strengthening the position of the National University of Uzbekistan in international rankings such as QS, THE, and WURI. Notably, the university became one of the first in the country to be listed among the world’s top 1000 universities in the annually updated QS and THE rankings.
– She initiated the establishment of the International Summer School, which has welcomed students from France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Belgium, China, Finland, Russia, and Central Asian countries.
– She has fostered effective cooperation with leading universities in France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Portugal, and Croatia within the framework of Erasmus+ grant programs.
