At the end of the meeting, Professor Daniel Burke handed over the letter of invitation from the President of the IRIS Seismology Research Institute regarding the membership of UzMU to the IRIS consortium.

For information: The IRIS consortium unites more than 150 research institutes of the USA and is one of the largest associations in the field of seismology.

ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR OF THE MICHIGAN STATE UNIVERSITY OF THE USA HAS ORDERED A VISIT TO THE FACULTY OF GEOLOGY AND GEOINFORMATION SYSTEMS.

A scientific-practical conference was held together with university students and professors at the Faculty of Geology and Geoinformation Systems of the National University of Uzbekistan named after Mirzo Ulugbek. At this event, Kevin Mackey, associate professor of the department of seismology at the Department of Geology and Environmental Sciences, Michigan State University, one of the leading educational and scientific centers of the USA, met with university students and professors. FYI, Kevin Mackey has been an Associate Professor of Seismology in the Department of Geology and Environmental Sciences at Michigan State University since January 2000. His research focuses on the structure of the Earth’s crust, the seismology and tectonics of Eastern Russia and Western Alaska, and the analysis of local earthquakes in Michigan. In his research, he collaborates with the Institute of Geophysics at the University of Alaska at Fairbanks, the Yakutsk Institute of Geological Sciences (Yakutsk, Russia), and the seismic networks of the Northeastern Interdisciplinary Research Institute (Magadan, Russia).
