The history of the Economic Faculty of the National University of Uzbekistan begins in 1918 from the day the university was established /
In 1931 the Faculty of Social and Economic Relations was founded.
On the basis of this faculty, the Tashkent Financial Institute, the Institute of Economic Research, the Institute of Agriculture were organized.
In 1979, the Faculty of History was separated from the Faculty of Social and Economic Relations. Personnel in the field of economics were trained at the Department of Political Economy until 1990.
Since 1991, the Faculty of Economics has been functioning independently.
In 2016, the 25th anniversary of the faculty was celebrated.

Supporting the scientific and creative research of talented students is one of the main tasks of the faculty. Young people are actively involved in Presidential and named scholarships, science olympiads, competitions, and government scientific projects. Furthermore, all necessary conditions have been created for their participation in conferences and for publishing their scientific and creative works.

- N.G. Muminov participated in the regional forum entitled “Policies and Practices of Internationalization in the Asia-Pacific Region,” organized by UNESCO in Almaty, Kazakhstan, on 22–24 May 2019.
- F.T. Egamberdiev participated in the International Turkic Congress (UTUFEM), held at Nigde University, Türkiye, on 16–20 June 2019.
- H.P. Abulqosimov participated in the international conference “II Yunusov Readings: Modernization of the Values of the Great Steppe as a Key Factor in the Development of Science and Education,” held in Shymkent, Kazakhstan, on 19 March 2019.

Lectures Delivered by Foreign Professors and Associate Professors
In 2021 alone, lectures and practical classes for the Faculty’s students were organized with the participation of five professors and associate professors from foreign universities:
- Stefen Richard King — consultant at the University of Cambridge (United Kingdom). He delivered 12 hours of lectures on “Economics of Networks and Sectors” (Order No. 02-2126 of the Rector of the National University of Uzbekistan dated 26 November 2021).
- Alexander Vasilyevich Babkin — Professor at Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University (Russian Federation). He delivered 12 hours of lectures on “Digital Economy.”
- Karomat Ozodbek — Associate Professor at Kastamonu University (Türkiye). He delivered 50 hours of lectures and practical classes on “Economic Theory” (Order No. 02-1725 of the Rector of the National University of Uzbekistan dated 19 December 2020).
- Togay Aqxoja Asanovich — Associate Professor at the Kazakh University of Foreign Languages and Business Career (Republic of Kazakhstan). He delivered 49 hours of lectures and practical classes on “Macroeconomic Analysis and Forecasting” (Order No. 02-1726 of the Rector of the National University of Uzbekistan dated 19 December 2020).
- Kurmanbaev Serik Kojanovich — Professor at Silkway International University (Republic of Kazakhstan). He delivered 30 hours of lectures and practical classes on “Economic Theory” (Order No. 02-371 of the Rector of the National University of Uzbekistan dated 18 February 2021).
