The Uzbekistan-China Strategic Cooperation Research Center Launched at the National University of Uzbekistan

On June 9, 2026, the National University of Uzbekistan named after Mirzo Ulugbek hosted a meeting with a delegation from Renmin University of China, along with the official inauguration ceremony of the newly established Strategic Partnership Research Center.

As part of the visit, a meeting was held between the leadership of the National University of Uzbekistan and members of the delegation led by Professor Ma Huaide, President of Renmin University of China. The delegation was accompanied by Sun Changdong, a diplomat from the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Uzbekistan. The discussions were also attended by Asqarali Daminov, Head of the Department for the Development of Science and Innovation Activities at the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovation of Uzbekistan, as well as NUU Vice-Rectors Ravshan Musurmanov and Komil Inoqov.

The highlight of the event was the official opening ceremony of the Uzbekistan–China Strategic Partnership Research Center established at the National University of Uzbekistan. Representatives of both sides symbolically cut the ribbon to mark the launch of the Center and emphasized its role in strengthening academic and scientific cooperation between the two countries.

The Center is intended to support sustainable development initiatives, regional studies, and analytical research projects within the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative. During the meeting, the participants exchanged views on the Center’s future activities and prospective areas of joint research.

The Center carries out its activities based on three core principles:

  • promoting the development of green energy and supporting scientific research in this field;
  • training highly qualified specialists and professionals for the sector;
  • strengthening and expanding cultural and humanitarian ties between Uzbekistan and China.

As part of the presentation session, Professor Xu Xinhua of the School of International Studies delivered a lecture on green energy. His presentation examined contemporary trends in the energy sector and highlighted China’s experience and achievements in this field.
