The Uzbekistan-China Strategic Cooperation Research Center Launched at the National University of Uzbekistan

On June 9, 2026, the National University of Uzbekistan named after Mirzo Ulugbek (NUUz) hosted a meeting with a delegation from Renmin University of China and the solemn opening ceremony of the newly established Strategic Cooperation Research Center.
As part of the visit, a meeting was held between the leadership of NUUz and members of the delegation led by the President of Renmin University of China, Professor Ma Huaide. The delegation was accompanied by Sun Changdong, a diplomat from the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in the Republic of Uzbekistan. The negotiations were attended by Askarali Daminov, Head of Department at the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovation; Ravshan Musurmanov, Vice-Rector for Methodological Support and Education Quality Control; and Komil Inakov, Vice-Rector for International Relations.
The centerpiece of the visit was the official opening ceremony of the “Uzbekistan-China” Strategic Cooperation Research Center at NUUz. Both parties participated in the ribbon-cutting ceremony, marking the commencement of the center’s activities and highlighting its vital role in strengthening scientific ties between the two nations.
The center will focus on sustainable development, regional studies, and analytical projects within the framework of the “Belt and Road” initiative. Future cooperation on this platform is planned in the following areas:
  • development of joint research centers;
  • implementation of dual degree programs;
  • exchange of faculty and young researchers.
During the presentation segment, Professor Xu Qinhua from the School of International Studies delivered a keynote lecture on “Green Energy,” analyzing modern energy trends and China’s experience in the field.
