Faculty history

In 1921 year the institute of chemistry was found under Turkistan state university and the subject of chemistry was teaching in 5 department of this university. In 1926 the department of chemistry was found in this institute, and 1930 the faculty of chemistry was found in central Asian State University.
On chemical faculty scientific-invertigation worhe have been developed in eranion of chairs and scientifical laboratories such famous scientifics as O.S. Sadikov, Ksh. V.Usmaanov, K.S.Achmedov, Sh.T.Tolipov, J.P.Zukervanik, A.Sh.Shamsiev, A.M.Muztazaev, A.R.Abdurasuleva, Ch.A.Aslanov, R.S.Tillaev, V.N.Musaev, T.S.Sirlibaev and othess have a great services.From 1938 to 1985 years (47 years) academic Sh.T. Tolipov, from 1985 to 1988, doctor of science on chemical science, professor Kh.A.Aslonov who achieved the honor of Beruny, from 1988 to 1995 professor T.S. Sirlibayev, during 1995-1996 doctor of science on chemistry, professor A.A. Ziyaev. From 1936 to 2001 doctor of science on chemistry, professor T.M.Boboyev, from 2001 to 2004 years doctor of science on chemistry, professor A.O. Soikov, from 2004 to 2010 years candidate, docent B.U.Sagdullaev, from 2010 to 2013 years doctor of science on chemistry, professor H.I. Akbarov, from 2013 to 2015 years candidate, docent A. H, Haitbayev. During 2015-2016 years candidate, docent A.J.Kholikov, During 2016-2017 years docent O.Mukhtorov, 2017-2018 years doctor of technical science, professor S.E. Nurmonov and others have leaded the faculty of chemistry. On currently 2018 doctor of chemical science, professor Sh.A. Kadirova has leaded this faculty.

Young people are actively involved in Presidential and named scholarships, science olympiads, competitions, and government scientific projects. Furthermore, all necessary conditions have been created for their participation in conferences and for publishing their scientific and creative works.

  • Cooperative relations have been established with the University of Copenhagen (Denmark), Kazan Federal University (Russia), Moscow State University (Russia), Kazan National Research Technological Institute (Russia), University of Zagreb (Croatia), the Autonomous Non-Profit Organization “Research Institute for the Development of Scientific and Educational Potential of Youth” (Russia), the University of South Africa (South Africa), Tongren University (China), Yeungnam University (Republic of Korea), Digvijay Government Autonomous College (India), Ibn Tofail University (Morocco), Cumhuriyet University (Turkey), and a number of other higher education and research institutions.
  • Collaboration with these institutions is carried out through international scientific projects, visiting lectures by faculty members, invitations for hourly-basis teaching, joint research activities, and the publication of scientific articles in WoS- and Scopus-indexed journals.
  • In 2022, the university joined the Erasmus scientific project “European World Talent Camp for Uzbek Scientists in Food Science and Technology,” with a total value of £707,000. Research under this project commenced in 2023.
  • 2022–2023. Topic: MRB-2021-520: “Development of Photocatalytic Coatings Based on Metal Oxides for the Purification of Water from Organic Pollutants.” Uzbekistan–Belarus cooperation. Project supervisor: Doctor of Technical Sciences S.E. Nurmonov (funding for 2022: 500 million soums).
  • Staff of the Department of General and Petroleum-Gas Chemistry maintain scientific collaboration with the Institute of General and Inorganic Chemistry of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Saint Petersburg State University, Darmstadt University of Technology (Germany), the Institute of Inorganic and Physical Chemistry of the National Academy of Kyrgyzstan, Kyiv National University, Aix-Marseille University (France), and Japanese research institutes.
  • The scientific and technical capabilities of these organizations — particularly their equipment — are used to address research objectives. The results obtained are jointly published in reputable scientific journals. In addition, collaborative research has been conducted with the Institute of General and Inorganic Chemistry and the Institute of Plant Substances Chemistry of the Academy of Sciences of Uzbekistan.
  • Through collaboration with scientists from France, Japan, and Germany, articles have been published in the journals Solid State Ionics, Advanced Materials Research, Applied Surface Science, Journal of the European Ceramic Society, and Materials Letters.
  • Collaboration has also taken place with staff of the Turin Polytechnic University in Tashkent.
  • The department has established partnerships with Baku State University (Azerbaijan), Caucasus University (Turkey), Kharkiv National University (Ukraine), the National Chemical Laboratory (India), Berlin University of Technology (Germany), M. Auezov South Kazakhstan University, Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, and several other higher education and research institutions.
  • At the international scientific-practical conference “Modern Problems of Theoretical and Experimental Chemistry,” held at Baku State University, faculty members of the department — Prof. Sh.A. Kodirova, Assoc. Prof. S.R. Razzaqova, Acting Assoc. Prof. B.S. Torambetov, and Instructor G.U. Xayrullayev — presented their papers.
  • The Department of Organic Synthesis and Applied Chemistry has established close scientific cooperation with several foreign universities. In particular, a memorandum was signed between the Faculty of Chemistry of the National University of Uzbekistan and the Faculty of Chemical Engineering and Technology of the University of Zagreb (Croatia).
  • At the University of Zagreb, the department’s second-year doctoral student Habibullayeva Nozima Fazliddinovna conducted research from September 11 to November 9, 2022.
  • Close scientific ties have also been established with the University of Zaragoza (Spain), the University of Delhi (India), and Wageningen University (the Netherlands).
  • The department cooperates with the University of Helsinki (Finland), Al-Farabi University (Kazakhstan), and scientific institutions of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. During the year, Professor R.N. Kalendar from the University of Helsinki and Professor J. Jenis from Al-Farabi University delivered lectures to students on Molecular Biology and Low-Molecular Bioregulators.
  • In 2022, the Department of Organic Synthesis and Applied Chemistry is conducting negotiations with scientists from Malatya University (Turkey) on a joint project worth 1.5 billion soums on “Catalyst Synthesis,” for submission to the international scientific project competition of the Ministry of Innovative Development of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TÜBİTAK).
  • The Department of Analytical Chemistry cooperates with the University of North Dakota (USA), Azerbaijan National University, Gumilyov Eurasian National University, and Al-Farabi Kazakh National University. In 2022, an agreement was signed with Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, and Rakhimov S.B. and Ziyayev D.A. completed advanced training in research development.

At the initiative of the faculty members of the Department of Analytical Chemistry of the Faculty of Chemistry at the National University of Uzbekistan named after Mirzo Ulugbek, Associate Professor Akmaral Argimboyeva of the Department of Analytical and Colloid Chemistry at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, along with PhD Gulmira Rahimbay and Bakhtijan Eldana, visited the faculty.

The Issue of Holding the Practical Stage of the International Chemistry Olympiad at NUU Discussed

⏺For the first time in the country, the issue of organizing the practical stage of the International Chemistry Olympiad, planned to be held at the National University of Uzbekistan, was thoroughly discussed.

⏺The guests visited the Faculty of Chemistry and closely familiarized themselves with laboratory rooms, modern equipment planned for use in practical examinations, technological capabilities, and infrastructure.
