At the initiative of the Department of Uzbek Literature of the Faculty of Journalism and Uzbek Philology, a literary and educational event dedicated to the 140th anniversary of the birth of the outstanding poet, writer, linguist, literary critic, historian, philosopher, art critic and public figure Abdurauf Fitrat was organized at a high level. The event specifically recognized the role of Fitrat’s creative heritage in the development of Uzbek national thought, spirituality and literature.

This event was held in collaboration with Michigan State University (USA), Ankara State University (Turkey), the Writers’ Union of Uzbekistan and the Republican Center for Spirituality and Enlightenment. It was attended by local and foreign scientists, professors, young researchers and students, who gave lectures on Fitrat’s scientific and literary activities, his role in the Jadid movement and his services during the period of national revival.
During the event, excerpts from Fitrat’s works were read, and artistic performances dedicated to the life and work of the writer were shown. The participants emphasized that one of the important tasks of today is to deeply study the rich heritage of the great enlightener and widely promote it among the younger generation.
