The Faculty of Geography and Natural Resources was reestablished in 2018 as an independent faculty after separating the faculty of Geology and geography. The faculty history goes in 1920 that was established as an independent faculty in Turkestan State University.

OUR MISSION

Training of high-class bachelor specialists for various sectors of economy of Uzbekistan in the field of physical and economic geography, hydrology, hydrometeorology, cartography, geodesy, a higher school.

OUR VISION
Natural resources occupies a central place in human life, the interests of society and nature are intertwined. Development of science-based methods for managing physical-geographical processes is related to geo-ecological problems for the sustainable development of the economy.

Well-known scientific schools currently being developed at the faculty:
School of professors L.N. Babushkina and N.A. Kogaya “Physical geography and landscape science”;•School of professors Z.M.Akromova and S.A. Saliev “Economic and social geography of Uzbekistan”;•School of Professor A.A. Rafikov “Geoecology of Uzbekistan”;•School of professors V.L. Schults and O.P.Scheglova “Mountain Hydrology”;•• School of Professor T. Mirzaliev “Atlas cartography”

THE FACULTY OF GEOGRAPHY AND NATURAL RESOURCES IS AN INTEGRAL PART OF CLASSIC UNIVERSITY EDUCATION
Although training of higher education specialists in engineering geographers began in 1935, in early 20th the university’s activities on geographical studies of the nature, population and national economy were successfully implemented.Over the past 80 years, faculty of Geography and natural resources has become the center of geographical research and higher geographical education in Uzbekistan. In 2015, after merging the Faculty of Geography with the Faculty of Geology, the Faculty of Geography became the “Geography” department of the Faculty of Geology and Geography, and since January 2018 it has been re-established as the Faculty of Geography and Natural Resources.

CHAIRS
The faculty has 5 departments:1. Physical geography2. Economic and social geography3. Surface hydrology4. Geodesy and geoinformatics5. Cartography

EDUCATIONAL SCIENTIFIC LABORATORY OF HIGHER GEODESY

FIELD EDUCATIONAL BASE "CHARVAK"

Educational field complex of practical and experimental work “Charvak” located in the town of Charvak. The base area of 3.2 hectares, designed for 400 beds, consists of 5 capital buildings. The educational field complex has the opportunity to observe, measure, monitor and carry out physiographic, hydrological, glaciological, meteorological, geodesic, cartographic, geomorphological studies, monitor dangerous natural and man-made processes. The location of the base in an ecologically clean area allows for various cultural events in nature, which contributes to the health of university staff and students.

STUDENTS GO TO PRACTICE AFTER THE FIRST, SECOND AND FOURTH COURSE IN THE FOLLOWING ISCIPLINES:

  • General physical geography
  • Geodesy
  • Hydrology
  • Hydrometry
  • Meteorology

STUDENT LIFE IS NOT ONLY A STUDENT

During day off time, our students actively participate in various sports and cultural events, in particular, in volleyball and chess constantly taking prizes in competitions at national level.

The faculty conducts a wide range of research works:

  • OT-F5-13. Study of the patterns of formation of the hydrological regime and water resources of the rivers of Uzbekistan and adjacent territories in a changing climate
  • A-7-9. Creating a map of landscape diversity of the Tashkent region with the reflection on it of measures for their rational use
  • OT-EA4-03. Geographical zoning of the territory of the Republic of Uzbekistan based on the distribution of alternative energy sources
  • YEA-7-2. Creating a landscape map of Ugam-Chatkal State National Natural Park
