At the initiative of the “Young Biochemists” club under the Department of Biochemistry at the Faculty of Biology and Ecology of the National University of Uzbekistan, an international scientific seminar was organized at a high level. The event was dedicated to studying the role and mechanisms of action of reactive oxygen species (ROS) in pathological processes, one of the topical areas of modern biochemistry and molecular biology.
The seminar was delivered by Andrey Yuryevich Abramov, a professor at the prestigious scientific center of Great Britain — UCL Queen Square Institute of Neurology, Honorary Doctor of the National University of Uzbekistan. In his speech, he presented scientifically based analyses of the role of reactive oxygen species in the development of oxidative stress at the cellular level and the important role of these processes in the development of neurodegenerative diseases, cardiovascular system and metabolic disorders.
During the event, participants gained important knowledge about modern laboratory methods, experimental approaches and antioxidant defense systems. The seminar brought together representatives of local and foreign higher education institutions and research centers, strengthening scientific cooperation, enhancing the potential of young researchers, and further enhancing their interest in science.
