Leibniz Institute for Agricultural Development in Transitional Economy

On January 22, 2024, Daniel Müller, head of the department at the German Leibniz Institute for Agricultural Development in Transitional Economy (IAMO; Germany), professor at Humboldt University in Berlin. He visited the National University of Uzbekistan.

The delegation was welcomed by R.Shirinova, vice-rector for international relations.

The main purpose of the visit is to establish and develop cooperation in scientific research and education between Uzbekistan and Germany. In particular, in the conditions of climate change, he gave his proposal on conducting research aimed at rational use of land and water resources, reduction of carbon gases and "greenhouse effect" gases.

UzMU was invited to participate in the competition announced by the German government as a partner.

In certain fields, it was agreed between IAMO and UzMU on the establishment of exchange programs, training, and establishing a partner in other educational, methodological and research areas.

Instead, IAMO focuses on agricultural development in economies in transition, particularly in Central and Eastern Europe, as well as Central and Eastern Asia.

During the meeting, issues of establishment and development of cooperation in scientific research and education between Uzbekistan and Germany were discussed. In particular, foreign professors gave their proposal to conduct research aimed at rational use of land and water resources, reduction of carbon gases and "greenhouse effect" gases in the context of climate change. Also, representatives of the National University of Uzbekistan were invited to participate in the competition announced by the German government as partners.

At the end of the meeting, it was agreed to establish a partnership between IAMO and the National University of Uzbekistan in certain fields, namely, implementation of exchange programs, training and other educational, methodological and research directions. Instead, IAMO focuses on agricultural development in economies in transition, particularly in Central and Eastern Europe, as well as Central and Eastern Asia.
