International Research Lecture Held at the Faculty of Mathematics

On October 13, an international research lecture was held at the Faculty of Mathematics of the National University of Uzbekistan named after Mirzo Ulugbek. The lecture was delivered by Bakhadyr M. Khoussainov, Professor at the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China (UESTC) and Head of the Algorithms and Logic Laboratory. It focused on “Large Scale Geometries of Infinite Strings.”

The lecture covered metric spaces of infinite strings, their geometric properties, the concept of quasi-isometry, and recent research findings in this field. The applications of these studies in computer science, automata theory, and machine learning were also discussed. The event was attended by faculty members, doctoral researchers, master’s students, and senior undergraduate students, who took part in a scientific discussion with the speaker.

During the visit, the parties also discussed ways to strengthen scientific cooperation between NUUz and UESTC, conduct joint research, and expand academic mobility opportunities. From October 12 to 16, Bakhadyr M. Khoussainov is delivering a 16-hour algebra course for early-career researchers, doctoral researchers, and master’s students of the Department of Algebra and Functional Analysis as part of their independent study hours.
