Today, May 6, as part of the “Wednesday – Sports Day” initiative, the opening ceremony of large-scale sports events was held at the sports complex of the National University of Uzbekistan named after Mirzo Ulugbek. These competitions are organized to promote a healthy lifestyle among students and staff.
Vice-Rector of the University, Shuhrat Toshmatov, delivered a welcoming speech at the opening ceremony. During his speech, the Vice-Rector read out the Rector’s holiday greeting to the participants and emphasized the significant role of mass sports in human health.
Following the opening ceremony, the “Dorilfunun” team performed according to the program. The artistic and sports-related performances prepared by the team added a special energy to the event and uplifted the spirits of all attendees.
As part of the sports activities, participants tested their skills in several disciplines. Specifically, the program included intense competitions and drills in sports such as jumping rope, shuttle runs on volleyball courts, and standing long jumps.
University leadership, deans, vice-rectors, tutors, educator-pedagogues, and all staff members actively participated alongside students in this mass sports event.
