Meeting Held at the National University of Uzbekistan with the Delegation of Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia

Today, June 16, a meeting was held at the National University of Uzbekistan named after Mirzo Ulugbek with a delegation from one of Malaysia’s leading higher education institutions, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM), led by its Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dato Dr. Sufian Jusoh.

During the meeting, the parties discussed prospects for cooperation between Uzbekistan and Malaysia in the fields of higher education, research, and innovation. They exchanged views on faculty and student exchange programs, the establishment of joint academic programs, participation in collaborative research projects and international grants, as well as the organization of joint seminars, summer schools, and scientific conferences.

At the conclusion of the negotiations, a Memorandum of Cooperation was signed between the National University of Uzbekistan named after Mirzo Ulugbek and Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia. This document will serve as an important legal framework for elevating academic and scientific relations between the two universities to a new level, expanding joint research initiatives, and enhancing academic mobility programs.

It is worth noting that this visit represents a logical continuation of practical steps aimed at further strengthening cooperation between Uzbekistan and Malaysia in the fields of education and science under the “Roadmap” adopted following the official visit of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, to Malaysia in February 2025.

The parties also expressed their readiness to expand cooperation in scientific research, innovation, artificial intelligence, natural and exact sciences, business and economics, as well as in the study of Islamic civilization and cultural heritage.
