A meeting was held at the National University of Uzbekistan named after Mirzo Ulugbek with a delegation from the Agency for Assessment and Accreditation of Higher Education of Portugal (A3ES). The delegation, including João Sàágua, President of the Management Board, Raquel Santos, Secretary-General, and Luís Gouveia, Assessment and Quality Manager, met with university officials. The visit was dedicated to studying European experience in higher education quality assurance and international accreditation.
During the meeting, the international accreditation of educational programs at the National University of Uzbekistan and familiarization with A3ES assessment criteria were central topics. The parties discussed identifying programs eligible for international accreditation, evaluating joint degree programs based on the European Approach principles, and the stages of self-assessment. Additionally, the foreign experts expressed their desire to provide methodological support to the university and organize specialized training for staff.
This dialogue marked an important milestone in establishing long-term cooperation between the National University of Uzbekistan and the A3ES agency. Partnering with this prestigious agency, registered in the European Quality Assurance Register (EQAR), serves to align the university’s educational processes with international standards. At the conclusion of the meeting, the parties agreed to implement the defined objectives and consistently continue mutual exchange of experience.
