On June 12, 2025, the rector of KNU, Professor Dogdurbek Chontoev, met with the delegation of the Mirzo Ulugbek National University of Uzbekistan at the Kyrgyz National University named after Jusup Balasagyn.
Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs Shuhrat Toshmatov and Vice-Rector for Methodology and Quality Control of Education Ravshan Musurmanov expressed their gratitude for the warm welcome and exchanged commemorative gifts.
The historic event took place the next day – June 13. The National Universities of Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan officially agreed on cooperation in the field of higher education. Within the framework of the meeting, a memorandum of understanding was signed, which provides for the implementation of joint double degree programs for students of the two countries.
The agreement covers the bachelor’s degree programs in Software Engineering, Psychology, and Philology (Uzbek Language).
The memorandum was signed by the First Vice-Rector of KNU Alaybek Shamshiyev and the Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs of the National University of Uzbekistan Shuhrat Toshmatov.
