From February 24 to March 4, 2025, Associate Professors of the Department of Geodesy, Cartography and Cadastre, Department of Physical Geography, Faculty of Geography and Geoinformation Systems of the National University of Uzbekistan named after Mirzo Ulugbek A.A. Ibraimov and Avezov M.M., together with a group of students and masters, are on a business trip to the Faculty of Biology and Geography of the Karaganda University named after Academician E.A. Buketov, located in Karaganda, Republic of Kazakhstan, as part of academic mobility. On February 22, 2025, a meeting was held with the Dean of the Biology and Geographical Faculty (BGF) A.G. Zhumina and the Head of the Geography Department A.I. Amanzholov, the staff of the faculty and department, during which they got acquainted with the history and activities of the faculty and department. They gave lectures to students and masters of the Biology and Geographical Faculty. Our students and postgraduates attended classes by the assistant professor of the department, PhD in Geography G.N. Chistyakova.
Then a meeting was held with the acting rector, vice-rector for strategic development of the university E.Zh. Sarmurzin. During the conversation, the vice-rector spoke about changes in the field of education, and also discussed the importance and possibilities of establishing cooperation between our universities in the educational, methodological, scientific spheres, academic mobility, and joint training. At the same time, on the first day of the trip, a tour of the faculty and the university was organized, as well as an introduction to the activities of the innovative library operating at the faculty, the university and archaeological museums.
Let us recall that Karaganda University named after E.A. Buketov entered the top 1000 international universities and is among the five leaders of domestic education according to the National Accreditation Agency of Kazakhstan. By the decision of the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated April 5, 2024, Karaganda University named after Academician E.A. Buketov was granted the status of a research university.
