Today, a “Leader and Youth” meeting dedicated to Youth Day was held at the Faculty of Physics of the National University of Uzbekistan. The event, which brought together students, young researchers, and doctoral candidates, aimed to strengthen young people’s interest in science, support their initiatives, and provide a platform for open dialogue.
The meeting was attended by Odiljon Mamatkarimov, Chairman of the Committee on Science, Education and Healthcare of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan. The event was opened by Yakub Ergashov, Vice-Rector for Research and Innovation of the university, who highlighted the reforms being implemented in the country to support young people comprehensively and help them realize their scientific potential.
During the discussion, O. Mamatkarimov spoke about the consistent implementation of youth policy in New Uzbekistan and the opportunities being created for the younger generation to receive quality education and engage in scientific activities. In particular, he provided detailed information on the priorities outlined in Presidential Decree No. PF-98 “On Improving the System for Training and Attestation of a New Generation of Scientific Personnel,” as well as on the mechanisms aimed at supporting doctoral students, master’s students, and young researchers.
He also emphasized that actively involving young people in research activities, enabling them to master modern scientific achievements, and ensuring their достойное participation in the international scientific community are among the key priorities of today. Sharing insights from his own academic and professional experience, he encouraged students to remain committed to research, generate innovative ideas, and demonstrate perseverance in their scientific endeavors.
The meeting was held in a warm and engaging atmosphere and featured an active question-and-answer session. Students, doctoral candidates, and young researchers raised a number of questions related to support for research activities, grant opportunities, doctoral education, international cooperation, and academic internships. Comprehensive answers and practical recommendations were provided in response to the participants’ inquiries.
As part of his visit, O. Mamatkarimov also familiarized himself with the facilities and conditions created for doctoral candidates and young scientists at the Faculty of Physics, the activities of modern scientific laboratories, and ongoing research projects. He highly appreciated the faculty’s efforts in promoting science and innovation, emphasizing the importance of supporting young researchers and fostering their scientific potential.
